Atlas Antwerpen: Integration and NT2 Routing in Antwerp
Atlas is the city integration centre for Antwerp, Belgium. Like Amal in Ghent and Huis van het Nederlands in Brussels, Atlas is the official entry point for newcomers who need to integrate and learn Dutch in the Antwerp area.
What Atlas Does
Atlas conducts the mandatory intake for newcomers in Antwerp. A counselor meets with you, evaluates your situation and language level, and creates a personalized integration plan. This plan includes routing to an appropriate NT2 course provider, information about the inburgering trajectory, and referrals to other services you may need.
Atlas also offers social orientation programs, workshops about living and working in Flanders, and follow-up support. The entire service is publicly funded. There is no cost to the newcomer for intake or routing.
How to Use It
If you live in Antwerp and need to start the integration process, contact Atlas directly to schedule your intake. You do not need any other referral or paperwork to book the first appointment. After intake, Atlas connects you with an NT2 school that matches your level, schedule, and location within the Antwerp region.
How It Fits Your Dutch Learning
Atlas does not teach Dutch. It directs you to Dutch courses. The value of Atlas is that it removes the guesswork. Instead of researching dozens of schools yourself, you get a counselor who knows the Antwerp NT2 landscape and can match you with a suitable provider.
Because Atlas is the official Antwerp integration agency, enrollment through Atlas satisfies the administrative requirements of the Flemish inburgering system. Your course certificate is recognized by the Flemish government. Atlas also monitors your progress and can adjust your trajectory if your circumstances change.
Limitations
Atlas only covers the Antwerp area. It does not operate in other Belgian cities. It also does not offer language courses directly. The quality of the NT2 school you are routed to depends on the partner school, not on Atlas itself.
Atlas is a gateway, not a school. Use it to find your path, then follow it.
