About Alexander M.
Hi! I'm Alex, a 27 year old language teacher from England. I'm deeply passionate about the Dutch language and culture of the Netherlands, and having learnt the language as an adult from scratch to fluency, I've developed the exact methods and materials needed to learn Dutch efficiently and enjoyably. I now speak Dutch without an accent, which blends in seamlessly with native speakers. Alongside language tutoring, I am a professional musician and have toured Europe extensively with my band. I'm also an avid sports fan (football, baseball and formula one), a season ticket holder at Middlesbrough FC, a European politics enthusiast, and I love dogs, pubs and lekkerspelen. Having spent 5 years mastering Dutch before I began teaching it, I've gained a highly unique perspective which native speakers simply cannot attain. I know how it feels to learn Dutch from the very start, and what truly works to reach fluency. I have now been tutoring Dutch for just under two years and have seen enormous progress with my students using these methods. I've built an enormous range of resources to aid you in your learning process, all of which are adaptable to your level and progression. I'll provide you with a tried and tested plan and method to maximise your output both in and outside of the classroom. My lessons are often structured to ensure my students expand their vocabulary whilst sounding natural with precise pronunciation, but without disrupting the flow of conversation. Mistakes and areas to improve are always subtly noted. Whilst textbooks are useful, my teaching methods and resources mostly avoid traditional learning methods, and focus more on entertaining, enjoyable ways of learning. Comfort and self-confidence are at the heart of all my lessons, and something I place great emphasis on.
