About Daphne S.
Hi! My name is Daphne, a full-time Dutch teacher since 2019. MY EXPERIENCE as a dance teacher and physiotherapy teacher prepared me to become a Dutch teacher for students of all ages and levels. I lived in Panama and now in Mexico. So I have worked with students both in the Netherlands and abroad. Nowadays, I specialize in teaching online - mainly adults, who want to feel confident and comfortable using Dutch in real life. MY DEGREES, such as Master of Science and a Master in Education, skilled me to guide you in a structured and didactic way. I love guiding my students step-by-step and seeing that moment when something (finally) click. Those breakthroughs are what makes teaching so rewarding for me. OUTSIDE OF CLASS, I enjoy traveling, staying active, and discovering new places. I also appreciate a tidy home, and I bring this sense of organization into my lessons to help you progress in a logical and supportive way. MY LESSONS are structured to practice all facets of language learning: grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, listening and speaking. Each lesson begins with small talk (in Dutch, if possible) to set the tone, followed by varied exercises lasting no more than 10 minutes each to maintain your concentration. HOMEWORK exercises are provided and requires about 1 hour of your time. With tools like Quizlet and Wordwall you practice vocabulary and grammar in a playful way. Listening and writing exercises are also assigned as homework, so you can take the time that you need. THE BOOK you will use provides a clear guideline. Of course, we can adjust our classes to your needs and preferences. I've worked with several books and ultimately chose the method that best fits my students with a middle to high educational background who already speak a European language. SPECIFIC GOALS, such as the Inburgeringsexamen (A2 / B1), Staatsexamen NT2 (B2), and CNaVT (C1) can be addressed upon request. I have successfully guided students preparing for these Dutch proficiency exams. MY LANGUAGE proficiency in English, Spanish, and German allows me to provide you better examples and clearer explanations.
