About Jalen K.
Hi there! My name is Jalen. I was born in Canada but grew up in Amsterdam from the age of three. Because of that, I speak both Dutch and English fluently and I'm used to switching between both languages and cultures. I love helping people learn a language in a relaxed and practical way, and I already have experience giving tutoring sessions. In my free time, I enjoy soccer, traveling, and discovering new places and cultures. I love meeting new people and chatting about all sorts of topics. I have about six months of experience providing English tutoring to international students. I helped students with speaking skills, pronunciation, vocabulary, and better understanding and using the language. I grew up mostly within the Dutch education system. I attended a Dutch primary school and then followed three years of VWO before finishing my secondary education at an international IB school in Amsterdam. This has allowed me to master both Dutch and English fluently. I want to tailor my lessons to the level and goals of each student. For beginners, I can clearly explain Dutch words, grammar, and sentences in English. With students who already speak some Dutch, I can focus more on conversations, pronunciation, vocabulary, and learning to speak more naturally. Whether you're starting from scratch or already speak Dutch and want to become more confident: we can adjust the lessons to what you want to achieve. You don’t have to be afraid of making mistakes during my lessons. In fact, by talking and practicing a lot, you'll become more comfortable with the language. We can work on everyday conversations, pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, or a combination of those. Since I speak both Dutch and English fluently, I can also explain things clearly in English when needed.
