About Jeltje S.
Hi, I'm Jeltje. My native language is Dutch, and I live in France. I hold a Level 5 TEFL qualification and teach the Dutch language. Having lived in various countries myself, I understand how challenging it can be to learn and comprehend a new language. People often speak quickly and don’t always consider that you might still be new to the language. In my lessons, you'll have plenty of time to think, ask questions, and speak Dutch. We’ll work at a pace that suits you, so you can improve your Dutch step by step and use it with increasing confidence. Language and culture go hand in hand. That’s why it’s important that you not only learn Dutch but also get to know Dutch culture. For example, we can talk about Dutch customs, communication styles, and situations you might encounter in the Netherlands. From the directness of the Dutch to how people interact in daily life. Each lesson is tailored to your level, interests, and goals. Outside of teaching, I love animals, woodworking, and creative projects. With my Level 5 TEFL qualification and experience teaching practical skills, including how to make musical instruments, I know how crucial it is to explain things clearly, work step by step, and consider different learning styles. My Dutch lessons are practical and focused on communication in everyday life. You’ll have time to think, ask questions, and speak Dutch. The lessons are adjusted to your level and goals. I also pay attention to Dutch culture and communication styles, so you not only learn the language but also better understand how Dutch is used in daily life. Book a trial lesson with me and start working on your Dutch. It doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner or already speak some Dutch. We’ll look at where you currently are and what you’d like to achieve. You might find that you understand more than you dare to say, or that conversations become tricky when someone responds quickly. Maybe you just want to be able to chat more easily at work, with neighbors, or in other everyday situations. In our lessons, we’ll focus on those kinds of things. You can also bring your own questions, texts, or situations that you encounter in daily life. Children are also welcome. The lessons can be adapted for younger learners and for kids who need a bit more time, repetition, or a different way of explanation. Even if you’re just starting out, you’ll likely notice that you already recognize more Dutch than you think. We’ll build on that step by step.
