About Leonie V.
Hi there! My name is Leonie, and I'm a Dutch teacher with a passion for languages, cultures, and education. After moving to the Dominican Republic and learning Spanish, I experienced firsthand how language helps you connect with people and become part of a new culture. This has strengthened my passion for language teaching and inspired me to help others gain more confidence in Dutch. Besides teaching, I love reading, writing, staying active, and exploring different cultures. I hold a Bachelor's degree in International Teacher Education and a Bachelor's degree in Primary Education, and I have experience teaching students aged 2 to 60 from diverse backgrounds. I've taught Dutch to newcomers and refugees in the Netherlands, and I'm currently teaching English to Spanish and Haitian Creole-speaking students in the Dominican Republic. Through these experiences, I've gained a lot of knowledge about second language acquisition and the challenges that come with learning a new language. My lessons are student-centered and flexible. My goal is to help you use Dutch confidently, taking into account your personal learning style and pace. I'm here to guide and support you throughout this process. Whether you're learning Dutch for work, study, relocation, integration, or personal development, I'm excited to help you achieve your goals. Together, we'll find an approach that suits you and helps you speak Dutch with confidence. My aim is not just for you to learn Dutch, but to actually use it confidently in everyday life. After trying 2-3 different Dutch tutors, I found Leonie to be the perfect fit for me! She quickly adapted to my learning style and made me feel comfortable and confident to practise reading, writing, speaking and listening in an organised and structured way whilst also keeping the atmosphere of the class super chill and conversing with me in Dutch not just as a teacher but as a friend, which definitely helps learning the language so much more!

Leonie is not only such a cheerful and motivating person, but she also makes every class feel varied and engaging. She always finds the right balance of exercises, so sometimes we focus on pronunciation, other times on listening, speaking, or grammar. This makes the lessons feel natural and never repetitive.

I tried many different ways of learning Dutch and worked with several tutors, but I always felt that something was missing. Then I came across Leonie, and from our very first session, I immediately felt comfortable. Her lessons are exceptionally well structured, and she explains every topic\grammer in a clear, organized, and easy-to-understand way. She also gives me enough time to practice during the lessons, which has made a significant difference in my learning.
