About Maaike V.
Hello! I'm Maaike. I'm an enthusiastic tutor with experience helping students gain more confidence in Dutch. I've previously worked as a teaching assistant, where I taught Dutch as a second language (NT2) to students from various language and cultural backgrounds. Additionally, I worked as an English teacher in Japan, where I developed interactive lessons for students of different ages and levels. I mainly focus on natural and everyday Dutch that you can use right away in your daily life. Instead of following standard teaching methods, I love working with authentic materials like news articles, podcasts, short videos, TV clips, social media posts, and everyday conversations tailored to your level and learning goals. This way, you'll not only improve your grammar and vocabulary but also gain insight into the Dutch language as it's really spoken and into contemporary Dutch culture. I'm a true language lover and enjoy discovering new cultures through travel. Having learned several foreign languages myself and lived abroad, I understand the challenges that come with learning a new language. That's why I strive to create a pleasant and supportive learning environment where you feel comfortable making mistakes, building confidence, and progressing at your own pace. I have experience teaching both Dutch and English to students from diverse backgrounds. As a teaching assistant for Dutch as a second language (NT2), I supported students in developing their language skills. I also worked as an Assistant Language Teacher in Japan through the JET Programme, where I taught English in Japanese schools. Additionally, I volunteered as a Dutch tutor at my university for two years. I have also completed a vocational training program as a teaching assistant, where I was trained for three years in pedagogy, classroom management, and educational support. Whether you're learning Dutch for work, study, or just for fun, I'm here to help you achieve your goals. Let's discuss how we can make your learning process as effective and enjoyable as possible!
