I teach because it is fun. At secondary school, my friends asked me to help them with math and economics. I started teaching Dutch as a student at university. My pupils were usually business school students. Later on, I moved to a different university, in Nijmegen, and taught subjects like environmental economics, history and Dutch language. After finishing another project at the university, I decided to start my own IT company. As a company owner, I do projects for companies all over the world, including the department of Languages and Cultures at the University of London. Currently, I spend approximately half of my time as a language teacher and half of my time as an IT expert. I have also been working as a voluntary language teacher at a local organization in my city, which helps immigrants to start a new life in their new home country. I have a masters degree and recently finished a course on second language teaching and another course on teaching adult learners. My students are from all ages, currently ranging from 6 till 60 and from all countries and cultures. I teach young children, craft workers and doctors. I'd be glad to have you as a student too.
Structured, Goal-Focused
I am really satisfied with the lessons. Mark is very patient and explains everything clearly. Thank you! :)
Mark want you to acquire good knowledge and pronunciation of a Netherlander. Definitely, he enjoys teaching you.
He was a competent teacher for teaching grammar and correcting mistakes. However, his methods and approach are never appropriate for someone who wants to work so fast in an exam-style learning environment. There was no flexibility, and he could not adapt the teaching style based on the personality and needs of the student.
Absolutely the best teacher one may have. He’s very professional, kind, with a brilliant sense of humour, exigent enough to make you progress but with your rhythm.
Mark is a good and well organised teacher. My Dutch has made a lot of progress with him.
I have had two lessons with Mark so far, plus a trial lesson - He has been engaging, knowledgeable, funny, and provides a lot of materials and insight as well as supporting at your own pace and explaining everything needed. The homework he sets also helps a lot. Thank you Mark!
