About Maylu K.
Hi! I'm Maylu, a Dutch language coach from Alkmaar (yes... the famous cheese city 🧀). Over the past 4.5 years, I've helped more than 120 students from 37 different countries improve their Dutch. From complete beginners (A0) to confident B2 speakers and students preparing for C1. Learning languages has always been one of my biggest passions. I love meeting people from different cultures, and besides teaching Dutch, I'm currently improving my own Spanish. Being a language learner myself reminds me every day that learning a new language isn't always easy, but it should always be enjoyable. My goal is simple: to help you feel comfortable, confident and motivated to use Dutch in real life. My teaching journey started as a volunteer, helping women who felt isolated because they didn't yet speak Dutch. Seeing how learning the language gave them more confidence and independence made me realise how powerful teaching can be. During my previous work as a coach, I often received the same feedback: people appreciated my ability to motivate them, explain difficult topics in a simple way and adapt to the way they learn best. That's when I decided to turn one of my greatest strengths into my full-time profession. Today I've taught more than 6,200 lessons and continue to work with students from all over the world. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Every student learns differently, so every lesson is adapted to your goals, learning style and pace. Some students prefer working with a textbook, while others learn best through conversation, visual materials or practical exercises. Together we'll find the approach that works best for you. I've been really enjoying my classes with Maylu, they're interesting and engaging. She always find different ways to present topics (visual, text, audio, video etc) which I find especially helpful since you can identify which way works better for you. Geweldige leraar!

Maylu is a wonderful tutor! She is so positive and encouraging, which helps a lot when you are a total beginner in a language like I am! I love how she provides lots of ways of learning through written exercises, videos, podcasts, reading, songs, etc...I really like that she focuses on teaching vocabulary and topics that I enjoy and that are relevant to me.
