About Paul J.
Hello there! My name is Paul, I am from the Netherlands and currently living in Portugal. I have a background in social work and teaching English. Next to that I am a yoga teacher as well. I love learning new languages myself and am currently learning Portuguese. My love for teaching started when I was a social worker and taught social skills to teenagers and young adults. Later in my life I started teaching yoga and English. I just love to see people grow and get more confident in whatever I am teaching. Learning a new language can be a hard and frustrating process. Exposure, repetition and perseverence are needed and that is exactly what I can help you with. I adjust my lessons just to your personal needs and will motivate and support you along the way. I've been teaching on Preply for the last year and a half and I really enjoy sharing my knowledge of the language and Dutch culture. I'm a bright and straightforward person and try to teach a fun class while teaching you a bit more about the Dutch culture as well. I have 8 years of experience in teaching yoga which has been very helpfull for my to find my voice in the classroom. I have taught English to different students from different places in the world. I started teaching in Spain where I got my TEFL degree and worked as a teacher for people who worked in tourism. I developed some materials myself and used existing materials from Englishformyjob.com. Next to that I taught English in South America for 3 months to people who had no knowledge of the language at all. Starting very basic, I used materials for kids and adjusted them to adult students. I've been teaching here on Preply for the last year and a half. I use different materials, both existing and some I created myself which also contains homework, movies, songs, etc. to get a more interactive class. I will share all my materials with my students to give them the best learning opportunity. Learning a new language can be tough, but don't worry! I'm here to make it fun and easy for you. Paul is a tremendous teacher and human! He always adapts to my current needs, has a great sense of underpinning the difficult parts I don't understand. Have had a fantastic experience learning Dutch with Paul. He’s patient, teaches in English (which makes it a lot easier for me to follow), and makes the concepts from the text book easy to follow. Would definitely recommend!
