About Jannes D.
Hi, I'm Jannes. I'm an experienced teacher from the Netherlands with a background in primary education and language teaching. For many years, I worked with children who moved to the Netherlands from other countries. Nowadays, I mainly teach adult expats. Kids often speak a new language without fear, but adults usually find it much more daunting to start speaking. That's why I offer calm and personal lessons where making mistakes is completely normal. My classes are tailored to your level, goals, and interests. Some students want to focus on grammar, while others mainly want to improve their speaking skills in everyday situations. Together, we'll find what works best for you. I help students not only with the Dutch language but also with Dutch customs, culture, and daily communication. Besides teaching, I love traveling, hiking, pottery, and playing outdoors. Feel free to book a trial lesson, and we'll see together how you can learn to speak Dutch with more confidence. I have over 20 years of experience in primary education. For ten years, I taught Dutch children aged 4 to 12 in all subjects of primary school. After that, I spent another ten years working with children from various countries who had just moved to the Netherlands. My job was to teach them the Dutch language, as well as Dutch customs and daily communication. After about a year, they were fully ready for regular Dutch education. Feel free to book a trial lesson, and we'll look for a way of learning Dutch that feels pleasant, relaxed, and motivating for you. Whether you want to focus on conversation, grammar, pronunciation, or gaining more confidence in everyday situations — I adapt the lessons to your goals and pace.

I really enjoyed every lesson with Jannes, even if I'm in a bad mood, overwhelmed by my own stuff, I always know that we will have a good time, she will cheer me up and I will make some progress in my Dutch. She always makes the classes feel smooth, easy-going and listen to your opinion what we should discuss next lesson. For me, it's also very important to have a person who is not just your tutor, but a friend in a some way as well, so you can talk about different topics, be open-hearted and just have a good time together. Jannes is one these people, so I truly recommend her as a tutor!
