About Sevil Carmen d.
Let me help you speak Dutch for real this year! I was born and raised in the Netherlands, but for the past ten years I have been living mostly between Italy and Spain. Last March, however, I decided to move back to the Netherlands. I have two Bachelor's degrees: one in Social Work and Youth Care, and one in Italian Linguistics and Literature. One of the reasons why I love teaching is because I myself love to learn, which is probably why I have now started my third Bachelor's degree, in Psychology. I will bring a bit of all these experiences into my classes with you, which hopefully will make them more dynamic and interesting. The people around me describe me as easy to talk to and someone who can adapt well, not only to different or unexpected situations, but also when interacting with people from different cultural backgrounds. I owe this partly to my own family and background, which combines Dutch, Aruban, and Turkish cultures. I’m fluent in Dutch (native), Italian, English, and Spanish, and I have an intermediate level of French and some basic knowledge of German. If you have any questions at all, don't hesitate to contact me. I like to combine traditional techniques, from grammar and basic everyday sentences to a more creative approach, such as introducing music, films, theatre, the news, or any other subject you'd like to explore while learning Dutch. Do you want to gain some general basic knowledge of Dutch? Are you studying for an exam? Looking for a job in the Netherlands and want to build a more specific vocabulary? Or do you simply want to work on your fluency through conversation? For me, it’s very important that we work on things that are useful and relevant to you. I've taught Dutch on several occasions, both privately and in groups. While teaching Dutch at the University of Bologna, I also took a course in teaching a foreign language as a second language (in this case, Italian). I know all too well how frustrating and difficult learning a new language can be at times, but I also know how liberating it feels when you start noticing your own progress. Remember that learning or speaking Dutch doesn’t have to be boring or intimidating! Whether you’re starting from scratch, preparing for an exam, moving to the Netherlands, or simply want to feel more confident speaking Dutch, we’ll focus on what you actually need. Finally, after 60 lessons, I felt like it would be appropriate to tell the world about the splendid experience I've had so far with Sevil as my Dutch teacher. From the beginning I wanted to focus more on being able to hold a conversation in Dutch and learn by talking about daily topics. Sevil adjusted to this wish very professionally and has always been super flexible. When I'm telling my stories, she picks up the current difficulties I have with the Dutch language and then we practice particular grammatical specialties that relate to my problems more in detail. I could not have imagined a better teacher. Besides that, she is cool person and always has had an open ear regarding issues that occurred during my move to the Netherlands. 10 out of 5 stars, awesome!

Carmen is the best tutor I could have found to learn Dutch! I would recommend her to anyone wanting to learn the language - she is encouraging, helpful, and very easy to get along with. In the 6 short lessons I've had with her, I am able to hold reasonable conversation and get the gist of everyday writing (news articles) pretty easily. And what's better is that she tailors her teaching to your specific learning goals and pace!

Well prepared and professional tutor. Each lessons she strives to push me out of my comfort zone to help me learning new things. Every lesson is fun and interesting which helps learning even after a long day of work. If you are thinking about choosing her do yourself a favor and just book a lesson.

Sevil is great teacher, she makes learning Dutch really fun and surprisingly easy! The lessons are always interesting and varied, and she's brilliant at explaining tricky bits of the grammar and language. I would highly recommend Sevil to anyone looking to learn Dutch!
