About Jacob
Hi! I'm Jacob, a native Dutch speaker, IT manager with Microsoft certifications, and passionate educator. I help you learn Dutch in a relaxed, practical way, with real-life conversation and smart tools like AI to boost your progress. With 12 years in tech and 8 years leading IT teams, I also coach students in digital skills, product thinking and modern work life. I use AI daily and love showing others how to use it to learn smarter, including for languages. Outside of work I travel, play guitar, and learn Hindi and Chinese. I know the challenges of learning a new language, and how to make it fun, personal and effective. Because of my studies in NLP and a bachelor in Social Work, I listen well, let you set attainable goals and make a plan to reach them. Everyone learns differently, so I only use what works for you. I'm patient and kind, but can be strict when necessary: sometimes you just need a little nudge. Lots of humor, and I'll keep you going when things look tough. My classes: vocabulary with tools and small stories so it sticks (repetition is key, I'm a visual learner myself); structured sentence practice in day-to-day Dutch, so you speak like a native, not like a book; business and movie classes, how people talk in Dutch companies and the ethics there. I also teach children, having taught Chinese to kids before. Whatever it is, we'll do it!
Teaching style
I will offer different kinds of classes. I can help you learn vocabulary, give tools to help learn vocabulary, as well and make small stories to make sure you remember this vocabulary. This has always worked will for me, since I'm a visual learning. Learning by repetition is key in this. I can also give more structured Classes focussing on sentence learning, in normal day-to-day dutch, so not just lesson book dutch. You want to speak like a native, not like a book. I can also teach business and movie related classes. how to use speech in dutch corporations, the ethics there and how to talk. I can teach children, having taught Chinese to children before. Whatever it is, we'll do it!
