About Miguel Vroomen
Hoi hoi! I'm Miguel, your laid-back Dutch tutor with 7,000+ lessons under my belt, chatting with students from over 75 countries. I've helped many students pass their inburgeringsexamen (A2 & B1) and NT2 staatsexamen (Programma I & II)—alongside beginners and advanced speakers just here for 'gezellige' conversation and to integrate in Dutch society. Born in Eindhoven, trained in art (Royal Academy Den Haag) and Literature & Film theory (Leiden Uni), and once a chef, I now work as a scuba instructor on Koh Tao, Thailand. I bring a bit of culture, and a lot of patience, into every lesson. I know a (university) language centre is an option too, often using the same textbooks I do ('Nederlands in Gang', 'Nederlands in Actie', 'De Delftse Methode'). The difference? You won't be one of twelve people waiting for your turn, or having a fixed exam-prep schedule—just you, me, and your pace. I believe speaking is the best training, so we focus on conversation from lesson one, tailored to your goals. Beginners: no fear! I'm laid-back, and living abroad has softened my 'Dutch directness'—you'll feel comfortable trying to speak right away. Advanced learners: I'll challenge you as much as you like—idiom, debate, business Dutch, exam prep—always in a relaxed, fun way. Let's dive right in!
