About Mike van Rossum
After taking a one-year break, I’m excited to be back and fully available to teach again—with lots of energy and enthusiasm! My name is Mike and I´m 40 years old. I was born and raised in the Netherlands so I´m a Dutch native speaker. I also speak English fluently. I love the Dutch language especially because of its language jokes. I’ve got a wide range of things that interest me: I like to be up-to-date with news items around the globe, love watching movies, like playing sports and I recently started to enjoy cooking as well. Enough topics to talk about.
Teaching style
My goal is to make you feel relaxed and to be yourself during class. Therefore you are allowed to tell me the topic you want to talk about and I will adjust it to your level. Learning a language is all about making mistakes, so the best thing you can do is to be ready to laugh about it and we will have a great time! I will prepare the topic of your choice and select words that you can use in real life conversations. During class we will learn new vocabulary and train how to pronounce them. After that we will train by means of conversation exercises or an interview with questions. To vary we also read short articles, analyze videos of news items and listen to songs to discover its lyrics.

Mike is a perfect teacher! With him I started finally to talk, not just to read or listen. He is not pushy at all, but pulls dutch words out of your mouth easily. And he’s always good prepared for the lesson: a lot of exercises and examples are always ready. Mike even remembers mistakes from the previous lesson, my personal bugs in grammar and pronouncing, so next lesson we always work on it. I highly recommend this teacher, but a bit afraid that soon he can be too occupied 😜

Mike was an absolutely amazing teacher. He was always on time, extremely well prepared for each lesson, kept the lessons engaging, and really made sure each lesson was relevant to the exam that I was preparing for. I feel 100% more confident speaking Dutch, and expressing myself in Dutch, as a result of his teaching.
