About Zita
Hoi! I’m Zita, a native Dutch speaker from Leiden, offering Dutch lessons from Brazil. Whether you’re starting from scratch or polishing your fluency, I aim to make Dutch as accessible and enjoyable as possible. With a background in Cultural Anthropology & Sociology, years of experience teaching English to Brazilians, and over five years of tutoring Dutch on Italki, I understand how challenging learning a new language can be. I also learned Portuguese myself, so I know it's important to feel comfortable making mistakes. That's why I try to create a relaxed atmosphere in our lessons, so we can build your confidence step by step. When I’m not teaching, I enjoy walking along the beach, swimming, and exploring the region. I love learning about other cultures, so I hope you don’t mind me being curious about yours! **Basic Dutch lessons:** For complete beginners. We'll practise small conversations, grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation using structured slides that you can access after each lesson. It's conversation-focused and takes you to A1/A1+ level. **Conversation practice:** For students at A2 level or above. Informal conversations about topics you choose or a video I send in advance. Vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation is corrected the chat. **Rescheduling and cancellations:** Allowed up to 24h before the lesson, in line with italki’s policy. To keep lesson prices affordable, reimbursement or rescheduling isn’t possible after that. Thank you for understanding!
Teaching style
Basic Dutch lessons: If you really start from scratch! I teach day-to-day basic conversation, grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation in a structured and interactive way, so you’ll be speaking Dutch from class one on. I prepared slides with information and exercises you can access after each lesson, but the focus is on speaking practice. The course takes you to A1 level. Conversation practice: If you already speak some Dutch (A2+). We can have an informal conversation on any topic, or I’ll send you an article or video to prepare beforehand and discuss during the lesson. I’ll correct your vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation.
