About Jiska V.
Hello there! My name is Jiska, born and raised in the Netherlands, but I have been travelling around the world for more than 10 years. Before I left the Netherlands, I attained a university degree in Egyptology and art history. I love to meet and get to know people of all backgrounds and cultures. I believe it expands our perspective in life and make us grow as human beings! Even though I don’t live in the Netherlands, I have a passion for Dutch and its quirky culture. It makes me very happy to get other people excited about it too! That´s why I am looking forward to meeting you and to teach you my mother language Dutch. I am interested in different cultures, spirituality, nature, music, history, philosophy and much more! I am openminded and I am curious about subjects that I don't know anything about yet. I hope you can explain me more about those! I have been tutoring Dutch for more than 4 years now to people from all over the world. Every person is different and everyone has different needs. I am here to find out what you want from the lessons and tutor you according to your needs. Whether it’s getting more fluent in conversations, understanding grammar in a more in-depth way, practicing for exams (reading, writing, listening or speaking) or just learning the language from scratch! My own travel experiences taught me that the best way to learn a language is by talking as much as possible. Having informal conversational lessons is an important part of my teaching style. My main goal is to give you more confidence in speaking, so you can practice the Dutch that you already learned and expand your knowledge in vocabulary and grammar. For absolute beginners it’s necessary to have some basic understanding of the language. I will guide you through the first grammar, way of pronunciation and vocabulary, so you will be able to have conversations as quick as possible! In a trial lesson we will discuss your goals and expectations, I'll explain you more about my materials and way of teaching and we can see if there is a connection between us. I hope to meet you soon and to start a fun learning journey together!

I recently finished my lessons with Jiska, who helped me both pass my Dutch exam and find a job. In my case, we focused mainly on speaking skills across different topics, and we also did mock interviews, which were very helpful. Jiska is a very good listener and corrected me whenever needed. She is positive and encouraging, so I highly recommend her as a Dutch tutor!

Really the best Dutch teacher!! Jiska is incredibly patient and friendly, which makes it not intimidating at all to make mistakes and just talk. Thanks to her, the lessons are always very interesting, varied, and educational. She has helped me enormously to speak more fluently, expand my vocabulary, improve my grammar, and better understand Dutch culture. Moreover, she is very flexible and provided different types of lessons, depending on what I needed at that moment: conversation lessons on various topics, some grammar lessons, medical role plays, and exam preparation. And now I have passed my B2+ medical language test certificate! 🧡 I am extremely grateful for everything I have learned from her and the interesting discussions we have had together.
