Hallo! Mijn naam is Karen. Ik geef Nederlands, business & management lessen aan volwassenen🌸 I was born and raised in Suriname where Dutch is the official language. I also speak a bit of French, Portuguese and Spanish. Now, I am learning Mandarin Chinese. During my previous tourism job, I traveled quite a lot. This triggered my interests in learning about other cultures and new languages! I enjoy nature, sports, cooking and being with family and friends. Are you looking for an experienced Dutch / English speaking tutor for conversation or business & management lessons? Well, here I am! Dutch is my mother tongue and I am very proficient in writing and speaking Dutch and English. My formal education is in business management and I have over 15 years’ experience in teaching adults. I am pedagogically certified to lecture and examine students. Our trial lesson The trial lesson gives us both the opportunity to get to know each other. I like to learn more about you, your work, interests and hobbies. I will ask you a few questions and suggest a brief listening, reading and speaking exercise. Afterwards, you can tell me how you feel and what you think of learning in this way. We talk about your expectations of the lessons, your goal and the time frame within which you want to accomplish it. I will start designing a personalized plan for our further lessons. How do I teach? During class, we will mainly focus on speaking. I will present you with a topic or you can bring up your own topic of interest. With the support of a video, a news article or a song we will have a relaxed talk about the topic. Once you feel comfortable talking about a certain topic we will take a short break before moving on to the next one. If you want to learn more quickly, I can provide you with extra exercises which you can complete in your own time. What can I do for you? I can help you improve your Dutch conversation skills in an interactive way. You will learn what to say in a particular context rather quickly. Whether you are a total beginner, at intermediate or advanced speaking level, you will become more fluent and improve your pronunciation. Perhaps your goal is to be able to make daily conversations with your family, friends and colleagues. May be you are going to live or study in the Netherlands, need to prepare for an exam or a work-related project and require specific international business & management knowledge. I adapt to your level and help you become more confident and feeling at ease when speaking to others. You can always send me a message if you have any questions. The classes are very well prepared and clearly structured. The teacher focuses on the learning objectives and makes sure each lesson has a clear purpose. They also explain everything in a simple and practical way, which really helps with understanding the language and building confidence. Highly recommended!
