If you are studying at TU Delft, the practical answer is to start with TU Delft Centre for Languages, because it is on your campus and built around academic and technical Dutch. If you need B2 or Staatsexamen preparation later, look at a university NT2 provider such as Radboud in to Languages or INTT - Universiteit van Amsterdam. The main risk is not finding a course. It is choosing one whose format collapses the first time a project deadline lands.

Start with what your schedule can actually hold

A technical degree at TU Delft is not a light weekly load. Labs, group projects and exam blocks eat evenings. Before you compare providers, decide how many hours a week you can defend, and whether you can travel. A course in Delft removes commute time that a course in The Hague or Amsterdam adds.

TU Delft Centre for Languages fits students who want Dutch tied to engineering and professional contexts, at A1 to B2, online or in person. It suits someone already on campus who wants the least friction. It does not suit a student who needs a fast intensive block or one-to-one coaching around an irregular timetable.

The local, flexible option

Dive into Dutch runs a four-month one-on-one coaching program with weekly online sessions or coffee sessions around The Hague, Leiden and Delft, plus homework, check-ins and meetups. That structure suits a student who wants accountability and a personal pace, and who can handle weekly contact. It is a weaker fit if you prefer a classroom cohort or need a formal academic Dutch track.

University NT2 providers outside Delft

These are strong options, but most require travel or a fully online commitment. They are general university NT2 programs, not Delft-specific.

Radboud in to Languages in Nijmegen offers university-level NT2 at A1 to B2, with intensive summer programs and academic pathways. It suits a student who can use a summer block or who wants a serious academic track. It is not convenient for weekly term-time attendance from Delft.

INTT - Universiteit van Amsterdam covers B1 and B2 for highly educated professionals, with a strong academic and exam preparation focus. It fits a student aiming at Staatsexamen NT2 or professional Dutch. It does not fit a beginner, since it starts at B1.

VU-NT2 Academy in Amsterdam offers A1 to B2 for highly educated professionals and expats, with its Program I and II. It suits someone who wants a structured university route and can travel or study online. It is less suitable if you need a Delft-local classroom.

KU Leuven ILT in Leuven covers A1 to C1 with intensive and regular NT2 courses, summer courses and academic Dutch. It fits a student who wants to reach C1 or who can use a summer for immersion. Cross-border weekly travel from Delft is not realistic for most.

Linguapolis - University of Antwerp offers intensive daytime and evening options at A1 to C1, with academic language focus and testing. It suits a student who wants evening study and a recognised NT2 provider. It does not suit someone who cannot commit to travel to Antwerp.

Tilburg University Language Center runs a rigorous one-year intensive program preparing for Staatsexamen NT2 Programma II at B2, with small classes and high commitment. It fits a student who can treat Dutch as a serious second commitment. It is a poor fit alongside a heavy Delft semester.

Match the course to the goal, not the brochure

Your goal decides the level you need. Under the 2021 Civic Integration Act, the standard route is B1, with reading, listening, writing and speaking exams plus KNM; a municipality can allow A2 after substantial effort. Naturalisation requires A2 in 2026, with a move to B1 planned but no confirmed start date. Staatsexamen NT2 Programma I is B1 and Programma II is B2. Check the official source for your own case, and see our inburgering and NT2 preparation pages for context.

A practical way to choose

Use the path-finder to narrow by level and format. If you want a tutor for conversation between courses, browse Dutch tutors. If you may move cities, check cities and the full directory.

Ask each provider directly about price, schedule and class size. We do not publish those details because they change.

How we know this: the options come from The Dutch Directory listings checked on 2026-11-04, and fit scores are editorial, not user ratings.
