About Janne S.
My name is Janne, and I’m from the Netherlands. I’m currently studying for a Bachelor’s in Education, having already earned both a BA and an MA in Fine Arts. For the past five years, I’ve been teaching Dutch to children and adults at various institutions. Languages are my passion! In addition to English, I’ve also learned German, Danish, and a bit of French. I believe that learning a new language not only gives you a fresh perspective on yourself and the world around you but also opens many doors, both personally and professionally! It all started with helping children from bilingual families gain a stronger grasp of the Dutch language. Later, I worked as a teacher in Dutch high schools, where I taught extracurricular classes such as entrepreneurship. In addition, I have also worked with adults, supporting them in improving their Dutch language skills to obtain additional certifications. Looking to improve your Dutch in a fun, effective, and personalised way? With my background in education and fine arts, combined with five years of experience teaching Dutch to both children and adults, I create engaging lessons tailored to your needs. Whether for bilingual children, students, or a professional looking to boost your language skills for certification, I’m here to help! As a language enthusiast speaking multiple languages, I understand the challenges of learning a new one—and I know how to make the process enjoyable and rewarding. Book a class with me and take your Dutch to the next level.

Hey reader! Until today I thought Preply imposed a word limit on tutor reviews. As it turns out, it doesn’t! This is great news, as I can in fact review Janne adequately, giving all fair dues – I’ve been sitting on this review; I’ll try to keep it brief in any case! A standout quality of Janne’s as a tutor is her versatility, creative capacity and creative approach: her technical knowledge of Dutch and ability to communicate it are excellent; but she’s also keenly sensitive to all non-technical aspects of language, and in particular of second language learning; she will take an interest in your personal Dutch-learning journey, and be attentive in listening to and assessing your needs. All this is to say that she’ll think very carefully about the various personal hurdles you’ll face in learning Dutch, constantly and confidently finding unique solutions and keeping you progressing in a highly personal way. My own classes were often centred around reading, because I enjoy doing that. I would have great fun chatting to Janne about the various short stories and extracts we would read, which were clearly selected with my interests and personality in mind; but we could switch it up and suddenly go into much more technical, grammar focused classes when necessary, which were structured and paced totally differently, appropriately. Janne is exceptionally patient and kind, and on top of that exceptionally encouraging. She is clearly highly mindful of herself as a teacher. For me pers
